iBook HD upgrade
I bought my iBook with the intention of switching the tiny 20GB HD for a 40GB drive. Then I read what involved.
You have to completley disassemble the thing! Anyway, I put off doing this for half a year, then I bit the bullet
and put in a 60GB drive. It worked! Anyway, there are a lot of steps involved and you have to be very careful.
Having said that, it's not overly difficult, just time consuming. I wouldn't have been able to do it if it hadn't
been for the following step-by-step instructions.
There are a couple of mistakes in the following document, but it's amazingly accurate. I wouldn't have put together
such a complete document.
I'd also like to add that I
called Apple before I did the upgrade to ask if it would void my warranty.
The person I talked to said that as long as I didn't damage anything while I was in there, the warranty would stand.
I've since purchased the AppleCare extended warranty, so we'll see if this is the case.
